We Preserve the Past

The Steele County Historical Society is home to more than 500,000 objects, documents, and photographs that tell the story of our community. Our staff and volunteers work every day to care for these pieces of local history and preserve them for generations to come.

Our collection is at the heart of what we do. These items are carefully preserved and actively used for research, exhibits, and loans to partner organizations. Each one offers a glimpse into the people, places, and stories that shaped Steele County.

We’re proud to be the caretakers of this history—and to make it available for everyone to discover, explore, and learn from.
