Group Tours & Field Trips

The Steele County Historical Society offers fun, thought-provoking museum tours that make great outings for senior groups, social clubs, bus tours, other historical societies, or family groups.

Guided group tours last 45 minutes to two hours, and advanced reservations are required. Adult group tours are available Monday–Saturday with reservations. Please kindly request a reservation at least three weeks in advance.

Please call (507) 451-1420 or email us to book your tour or for more information. Please let us know if your group will require any additional accommodations during your tour so that we can make the proper arrangements.  American Sign Language interpretation for adult group tours can be arranged, with at least three week's advance notice.

Don’t forget to leave time for a visit to our museum store, The County Junction, offering a wide range of hand-crafted items as well as local authors, unusual and one-of-a-kind gifts, and SCHS memorabilia. it's a perfect way to cap off your group’s visit.

Standard Tours

Guided tours of the Village of Yesteryear are available daily May 1st through September 30th at 1:30 pm Tuesday through Sunday. 

  • Adult Admission: $5

  • Children: 7 - 16 $3

  • Six and under: FREE

  • Group Rates Available

 

Step Back in Time Tour

Spend a full day with your group on the Step Back in Time tour in Owatonna. Your tour will feature the Minnesota State Public School Orphanage Museum, Village of Yesteryear, Steele County History Center, and Louis Sullivan Bank. Morning or afternoon coffee/snack and lunch is included in this complete package. We look forward to hearing from you! Offered seasonally May 1 – September 30.
