Steele County Historical Society Presents the Newest Edition of History Uncorked: “Eliza Brown and the Handyman”

May 24, 2017

The Steele County Historical Society (SCHS) is excited to announce the newest edition of History Uncorked – a fun and innovative way to learn about history while enjoying a glass of wine, beer or soda.  This edition, “Eliza Brown and the Handyman,” will be held Thursday, June 15, 7PM at the Steele County History Center.

This case of Eliza Brown is a true story in Steele County history set in 1862.  Eliza Brown became suspicious of the handyman’s intentions towards her daughter.  She took matters into her own hands, and unleashed an astonishing attack, which led to the charge of Attempted Murder.

Join us as attorneys Ben Cass and James Cole argue the case using the evidence from 1862.  The audience, aka jury will deliberate and decide the case before learning the true fate of the accused. The Honorable Doug Ruth will preside.

History Uncorked is sponsored by Smith, Tollefson, Rahrick and Cass Law.  Tickets are $10 for members; $15 for non-members and includes one beverage of your choice.  Additional wine and beer are available for purchase. Tickets are available for purchase at the History Center or online at www.eventbrite.com.  Seating is limited.

The History Center, located at 1700 Austin Road, Owatonna, is open Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10 am until 4 pm, Thursdays from 10 am until 8 pm, and Saturdays from 10 am until 3 pm. For more information, please call our office at 507-451-1420.
